New Star System Has Found Shaped Like Billiards

Wednesday, November 10th 2010. | Astronomy, Science

Astronomers have discovered a new star system that resembles a billiard. Some researchers from the University of Warwick and University of Sheffield found this billiard-like star system. The team found the system through the observation and analysis of data camera British scientist, Ultracam.
The researchers observed a binary star system which 1.670 million light years away from Earth’s. This system consists of two stars (red dwarfs and white dwarfs) that orbit one another with very close distance. Further analysis of Warwick and Sheffield ensure two massive gas planet is included in the system. Overall, this makes the UK research team members see it as like a game of pool.
Two gas giant has a mass of different, but actually has the same size, and the fact that its size is the same as a red dwarf star, says Professor Tom Marsh from the Department of Geology University of Warwick.
“If we follow the pattern we saw in the star system that dominated gas giant yellow or blue color, it is difficult to say the system is not like a giant pool,” he added. In billiards, a white dwarf star may be the most affected. In addition, the star is what causes the changes in its own orbit and the orbit of all planets and stars in this system, researchers say.
